JONBEE - 30/9/08 at 06:30 PM

I'm going to move the battery in my moggie to the boot during its rebuild.
Do i need to have a firewall/bulkhead welded in the boot for the mot?

NB: i have a MT75 rwd g/box from a 2.0 dohc sierra 1990. dont know mileage but was told its very good when recently purchased. was going zetec but now staying A series.£40 ovno.
Or will do a deal with a low mileage 1300 maestro engine, preferably with the ancillaries.
thankyou
Jon

I've put the battery in the boot of my MK Indy. It's well strapped down and has a f/glass cover so nothing can contact the terminals.
I ran a trials MG Midget for many years with battery and tank side-by-side in the boot with no trouble and it passed many MoTs and pre-event scrutineering with no comments.
But I don't know the 'official' line on this.

MGBs have batteries at the back under the backseat. There are metal covers, held down by Zeus sort of fasteners, over them so that acid etc won't affect the seat. Don't see why you should have trouble with your plan.
