What's the score with buying something like
THIS (Ebay
Sumo) which THIS site says is a registered as a Cortina:
quote:
Vehicle Registration Mark (VRM) tpu650r MANUFACTURER FORD
MODEL CORTINA GL
Transmission & fuel type PETROL
Body type CONVERTIBLE
colour RED
Potentially will require an SVA to get it correctly registered!! As it stands it is incorrectly registered and the owner could be fined!!! Also, the
insurance could be invalidated until it gets sorted out.
Knock at least £1000 off the value i recon!!

I think you can download the SVA application forms

There was a period of grace when incorrectly cars could be correctly registered without SVA but I think it ended half a decade ago!!! Can't
imagine MOT would be easy without a MOT tester seriously on your side.
Personally, I wouldn't trust the car data checker. I'm not saying that it's incorrect but speak to the owner of the vehicle, ask him if
it's correctly registered, has had an SVA and what the Model and Manufacturer is stated as on the V5C.
SVA came into force on 1st July 1998 and there's some good guidance on Total Kitcar but
speak to the owner first.

The second link brings my car up incorrectly as well. I have the V5 here and it says Sylva Leader, that site says Vauxhall Viva.
If you type TPU 650R into the DVLA checker and put make as Pilgrim Sumo not just Pilgrim it comes back fine.
My Sylva is the same - according to the DVLA the make is Sylva Leader.
Not so bad in other words.
A cobra replica with a Pinto!
Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong....

My Magenta comes up as 'other type' and my tin top, owned from new, comes up ok, but both have warnings of other info. Should I be worried.
Is it just a ploy to get you to have a data check for £19.99.
What is it a different model on the V5? Should be able to sort that out no problem, when my brother bought his car it was registered as the bigger version and he must have been able to change it easy enough or he would have proper moaned about it. The bizarre thing is he bought it second hand so the original owner must have had it wrong for 3 years!
Just put my tintop in and it listed no information whatsoever for it; no manufacturer, no model, no colour etc. It still said "Warning"
under other information though
