As some of you may know ive had probs with the megasquirt and my car has been at BEC owners for some time now (about a year) he took it for the sva
but it failed on emmisions, now i payed for a full sva at birmingham, now that its coming home un svaed im going to have to sort the emmisions out my
self(great) and then re-test at newcastle probably so>>>>
Do I
a) Re-test at birmingham and hope that its all ok but will cost me the earth to get there
b) can i re-test at newcastle
c) do i have to sit a full test again at newcastle?
and cost will be another £400, if so the car will be for sale as i just cant spend anymore on it!

BEC owners another happy cust then
As Chris says I think there's is a time limit on re-tests. After that its a full test. It's also got to be the original centre I think other
wise again it's a full test.
£400??? I'm sure it was about £150ish when I had mine.
Edit...Just had a look and the fee is now £190 and £38 for retest.

you have 6 months for the first retest then another month for the second retest.
I know, I did both!
after that you are back to square one - i.e. full fee and full SVA.
I am not sure but would guess what they test is at the tester's discretion - in my case I did it all at same station so they only looked at what
had failed previously.
Since the failed items are listed and you pay a lot less for the retest, it would make sense to just retest the failed items regardless of the
station that failed them.
.... but the answer is a phone call away - ring 'em up.
A couple of things worry me in your post Kris. New Sva and gosforth.
Why not get MNR to sort it out and re-test and Beverley.
Failing that Mac#1 might do it for a fee if you chat to Mark or Colin.
Knowing the grief you are going through id hate you to get the car back, have some of the lads round to do the best they can and then still fail
marginally. i know a few of the locals have done good work setting up fuel injection but they were on raod legal cars, not cars needing to go through
SVA.
Ill just clarify what i meant about last reply in case the SVA guys are reading. I have a lot of time and respect for Gosforth SVA. They did a great
job on my car and i was left knowing i had a safe and well built car. However for whatever reason there seems to be some issue with MNR's being
tested up there. I dont know what it is and can only guess that the first guy to be tested with one didnt.... well how should i put this....... take
the constructive comments in the spirit which they were intended.
There cant be anything majorly wrong with your car Kris. It has all the right bits.
Yea cheers guys i cant get a full answer for VOSA about the re-test, ive been asked to email them so i have and await there reply.
£400 was a rough guess for fuel, borrow car, borrow trailer Sva fees etc. etc.

Mac#1 are at Sheffield. i was thinking after last post - your problem with getting pro place to do the car is that few will touch home made FI and
ECU's. You somehow need to find somewhere that has pro engine analysers and someone else who is familiar with megasquirt.
I really cant believe there isnt anyone else out there with similar set up that has gone through SVA. What were your last SVA readings?
My only other suggestion would be to see if Terry (Middlesborough) still has his Dax set up to see if he may 'loan' you the injection stuff
off his. Might not be quite so easy in practice though. Im sure he has Jenveys and pro ECU on his zetec set up he was selling. (cant remebre user name
- THC yosemite Sam or something like that).
Oioi set his own up - got someone to drive his car while he played with laptop. Didnt need to pass SVA though. You might get a result if someone can
lend you wideband lambda kit. Then perhaps quick trip to local MOT place to check the readings.
After that you could try the megasquirt website to see if there is anyone else who can help.
hi chris
could you not run on carbs to get through sva ??? if the megasquirt isnt playing ball, is the cat in good condition, have you got any figures from
when it failed to give an idea of where the problem is ???
cheers
