Nuts again
LBMEFM - 23/10/08 at 06:09 AM

I have spent £20+ on nut covers and spent sometime fitting them ready for the SVA. On reading a recent thread I saw that the plastic hexagonal nut covers will fail as they have sharp edges and only rounded covers area acceptable. Please tell me they are wrong and the hex ones are OK.

They only fail if the sphere of doom can touch an edge of less than 2.5mm radius that is more than 5mm high.

TBH, my SVA just looked at my suspension and said, "you seem to have coverered pretty much everything there", which I had. He notionally put the sphere near the suspension but the indicator extension stopped him going too near it.

How sharp are your covers? A pic?

i have a massive bag of sva nut cover you could have had for beer tokens, £20 is very excessive. (sorry)

but again i have to agree with 'smart51' the sva inspector just looked at my suspension and saw the nut covers and then said ' i can see you have taken care in covering the nuts, they'll be fine'.

as long as the car looks the part the sva man will be relaxed as soon as you pull up to the garage!

The nut covers are the one that Car Builder Solutions supplied

Cant see them on Car Builder Solutions website... they only seem to have the rounded ones now in the SVA section.

Maybe a sign they found they were no good ??
