MOT/ TAX
I passed the SVA and had the MAC dated on the 2nd November last year. On the 28th the process was over and I had my tax.
Now I find myself needing to renew the tax. The reminder says that I need an MOT test certificate. I was sure that was not the case but it's
whats being asked for.
The V5 says the car is registered in 1988 which may be correct for the donor but this is not even the same plate and it should have been registered at
some point during November 2007. This is corroborated by the special notes which say SVA issued 02 11 2007 but also says declared manufactured
1988.
So should I be getting an MOT, moaning to the DVLA to have the V5 changed to read that it was first registered in 2007 or do I just need to fill in a
V112?
The V112 I find worrying as it looks like a personal declaration that no MOT is needed. I want the dvla to tell me that really as I'm sure i
could say anything in a haze of bureaucratic confusion only to have it blow up in my face if I needed to make a claim.

Sounds like you are getting the remionder because the car was "manufactured in 1988". First off you should get that fixed.
Having said that, mine says first reg 2005 (on a Q plate) and on the tax reminder notice and online I was always told I needed an MOT. Every year I
went to the Post Office and said that's silly because it's less than 3 years old, and they checked on "the system" and they
were able to give me a tax disc without an MOT

Your V5 is wrong, you need to write to the DVLA and tell them to correct the date of first registration (which should be the date you registered it).
Remember to send the V5 back to them.
Had exactly the same problem with my V5, just sent it back with a covering letter explaining the mistake and they sent out a new V5 with the right
date on it.
Cheers

I also went through this.
the dvla told me they had a "database" issue (not the only issue in my eyes and i told them so) and that the only way to get it taxed was
at the PO which I did and was very easy.
All they asked was when was the reg date as im on a Q that was that taxed and ready to go.
