MOt and TAX 2
Not conected to the other thread running but i didnt know what else to name this topic.
My range rovers MOt ran out on october 16, i took it off the road and at the end of october the tax ran out so i SORNed it.
Its MOT is in the morning which im hopeing will pass, but can i get tax for it and drive it straight after?
I thought i could, but i would have to have the tax start this month meaning i would 'loose' 7 days of tax. Not a problem, but looking for
the correct form on the DVLA's website it tells me the MOT must be valid on the start of the tax
The way its worded means i cant use the car this month even if it passes its mot in the morning as i havent got a valid MOT on the 01/10/08.
Is this true?
Sorry about my spelling, im an engineer and only work in numbers.

Yes you can
The way that I understand this is that you must have a valid MOT to get your road tax. So if you get your MOT on the 8th and buy the road tax on the
8th 1hour later, even though it states it is from the 1st it will still be fine. (It will be stamped the 8th you see)
Don't panic
Oh and by the way you do not need a form, just take the new styled log book in which they will scan and also take the MOT (as it will not show on
their systems) and your insurance to cover yourself if they need it. I taxed my car today which has been SORN for 6 months and I only started the
insurance today so I took the cover note in, they did not need the MOT as it was done 6 months ago and checked on line.
