Unless you have already bought it, why not get an SVA friendly mirror? I have just bought one from Classic car Accessories which has an identical stem as the photo but the head is of plastic and SVA friendly. Only cost £8:74 inc post.

I had one of those on a previous tiger i built went through sva no problem with the rubber round the edge
