its okay to stamp it on yourself? and do you need any other info on the wee plate?

That usually depends on your local DVLA. Give them a ring and ask them, or write to them explaining what you intend to do. You only need a chassis number, no other info required.

It's best to discuss it with the local DVLA office. You can just make one up and stamp it on yourself but the DVLA might start quibbling when it comes to registration. They can't actually prevent you from registering the car but they can sure make it difficult by misinterpreting the rules from head office!!!!!! Better to ask what music they want you to dance to from the beginning.....

I wrote them a letter suggesting a number I wished to use. They wrote back stating that the number was fine.

I then stamped the chassis myself and kept the letter so when it came round to registration.

Just remember there are some letters you can't use like I & O.
