K&N Challenger - SVA issues?

Has anyone used the K&N Challenger type filter (smaller chrome version of the universal airbox shown below but uses the same clip arrangement for fastening) in a protruding through bonnet scenario. I know there are lots of other options available but I need something squarish rather than a large rectangle. The Pipercross PX 300 foam jobbies mean that I would need a very tall (125mm) version to allow it to breath sufficiently for around 150bhp. So, with judicious use of a foam pre-filter around the outside, do you reckon I could I would have any SVA related issues?
TIA
Whoops, forgot the photo...

The clips/bands look a little sharp for exposed running, also be careful around the lid, though that would be easier to radius.

I think it could be fixed with some suitable trim though.
