VIN plate rivetted?
As title. According to the Cobra forum, it's ok to rivet a plate on.
I'm sure the concensus on here is it must be welded.
Any recent experiences?

My tester wanted to see it stamped on the chassis...
Instead, I stamped a steel plate and plug welded it on...
I also glued a smaller plate to the bulnkhead...

The letter I got from the DVLA with my VIN suggested that there should be one of each and that the stamped one should be on the off side.

a stamped welded on plate is quite common on recent production cars so should be fine

Mine was pop-riveted onto the nearside chassis, next to the battery - I also put some PU adhesive underneath before rivetting.
I was asked to stamp directly onto the chassis in any completely different location - mine was just behind the radiator.
