Sorning??
I bought a motorcycle that has not been MOTed since 2003 as far as I'm aware. When I got the logbook today I tried to sorn it but was denied
online.
This is the vehicle status:
Date of Liability 01 06 2010
Date of First Registration 18 06 2002
Year of Manufacture Not Available
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 680CC
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Licence Not Due
Vehicle Colour GREEN
Now, to me it looks like its in tax but on the V5 where it says TAXATION CLASS it sya next to it NOT LICENSED.
Can anyone explain it too me before I go up the post office???
Ta,

You will need to sorn it the old fashioned way using a paper form.
SORN is NOT transferable as the address where it is stored will be different with a new owner.
A fine will follow if you don't do it, chase the DVLA if you don't get a confirmation letter within a couple of weeks.

We nearly came a cropper with something like this - car had stood a long time and we went to sorn it electronically at PO which they did but we had no
record and then w ehad a letter saying car was not declared SORN...
Since then whenever we get a car that needs work we send in a form with V5 - I think there is a box on one of the forms saying you are sorning and
changing V5 simultaneously. We also scan them before sending off.
If you wait for new V5 before attempting Sorn you will be over the time limit, best thing is to phone DVLA "for advice" plead ignorance
and be polite and on your best behaviour!!
Good luck
