Iva application form advice
A friend is about to apply for Iva on a kit built car that he did not build,he is looking for advice before applying.
looking at the iva application forms it will need to be entered as a Amateur build, which requires a declaration form to be filled in and signed
Download form 'Complete VOSA's amateur built declaration to accompany your IVA application (DOC,
History.
the guy that built the car owns a garage and although a personal build some of the receipts are in the garages name / address, first thoughts are
section 1 would apply but I”m concerned about getting turned down if apply ticking this box.
so as the receipts are not in my name i cant tick box 2.
section 3 not sure ??
so am i right in thinking the safest bet is section 4 (the vehicle was partially built by an individual for his/her personal use and I purchased the
vehicle and completed the assembly of the vehicle and it is to be registered in my name ) Is this still going to be an issue with the receipts in the
garage name and another prob is the guy that built the car did not take build photos so evidence of build could be a problem without partially
stripping the car down.
advice welcomed as I understand you only get one go at applying!

I can only offer one bit of advice here - the only reciepts you need for IVA are for the major parts - engine, gearbox, steering, 'axles'
brakes, and a lot of those are covered in the reciept for the donor car.

Andy, I was in a similar possition. My Fury was built in my company workshop and many reciepts were addressed to the firm. The workshop was clearly
visable in many of my build photos. At the time there were several stories of AmBuild status being declined due to insufficiently convincing build
photos.
When I sent in the application (for SVA) I attached a covering letter/notes to the AmBuild declaration stating that I was a proffesional mechanic and
that I'd made use of my work facilities for the build, but also declared that the car was built for my sole use/pleasure and not for gain. I
also included a reciept for "use of workshop facilities". I got my test date back within a week.

The link to the relevant IVA form didn't work.
Here it is:
IVA Form
I think the problem is he didn't build the car.. but you would think there was some legit way of registering it, other than having to strip it
down, take a few pics and make out he built it himself.
