How long's the list of jobs?
With 3 weeks to go my list had 35points. With 2 weeks to go it had grown to 50 jobs!

Confirmed as Thurs 19th April 8:30 am now!
Job list is:
1) fix on VIN plates
2) calibrate speedo
3) fix drivers seatback and squab (prob velcro it in, its only expanding foam clad in ex-granada leather! )
4) general spanner check
5) general wiring cable tie check
think that's about it, bound to have missed something really obvious but I can't be arsed to read the manual any more!
Also not sure on emmisions, but I'll risk it I think, should be close now, runs perfectly, and its on the same map as a previous, very similar
engine/car passed several mot's with.

Well.......I actually went for a walk in the park yesterday evening with my girlfriend, and I had this weekend just gone and am having this coming
weekend off!
I also watched that house project programme last night, whatever its called, about the chap in Dudley converting a church into his family home, and it
really inspired me, made my workload look like nothing!! Instead of the usual "we did this " (translated to, we asked a builder to do
this) he actually did all the work himself, and did the whole thing for 90 grand, having moved from an ex council semi, top man
My "big project" for a few years time is a full self build of a house, so it was good to see that programme!

dammit, just ran the confounded machine up and it threw out a gobfull of water before the leccy fan kicked in....rah rah rah!!
I think I overfilled a touch and the expansion space in my header is "on the lower limit" of what I calculated as a minimum (after it was
made! ) so i think it was just throwing out the excess but still a pain!

What a complete ar5e, but at least you have 8 days to fix it
Presume the throwing out of water and the head gasket are related?

I really don't know, cos it isn't throwing out water now i have dropped the level by 10mm or so.
There is just some limited creamy scum in the water that comes back when I change the water, but only after running it till it hits 100deg c water
temp and the fan comes in.
Seems to be frothing up the water as well and bubbling when the cap is off, but not throwing it out even when the fan kicks in.
Its very odd but if I chance it sods law is it'll throw the lot in the SVA centre!

Well, it failed, but only on couple of very minor items, which will be sorted by the end of today.
Couple of radii missed (reflectors and 1 wishbone bracket), and seatbelt anchorages too low, which a thinner foam seat base will fix, and also will
cure the coimplaint that the steering wheel compromised control due to its size (std big wheel)
so a "good" fail, it flew through noise and emissions which were my big worries. My totally guessed and untested brake bias (had the bar
in bits the night before the test! ) was absolutely spot on, and speedo was 0 error at 90 mph!!!
PS Notts vro are excellent, each fault had solutions proposed by Martin the tester, and the quality of work there is great.
cheers
Nat

Bad news it failed, good that it's easy stuff.
If it had just been the trim he might have gone for a cuppa while you added some more.

It's worth noting that they're wise to the 'fit the donor wheel' trick.
When I went for my SVA the standard wheel did make steering 'interesting' - the very tall tester could barely get in the car.
Maybe the advice to prospective SVA candidates should be 'use the donor wheel, unless it restricts the driver's movements'.

He would have let me have plenty of time for edge trimming etc, they were fine with that, it was the seatbelt anchorage I couldn't fix there and
then so no point doing the trims either.
David, yep, although on my car I am fine in it, even though the tester was 1" shorter than me, I have short legs and a long body, so always have
a short dricing position, which brings other peoples knees up under the wheel.
A thinner seat squab cures it no problem, the tester took the squab out and commented it was fine without it there.

Hard lines Nat.
The retest will fix it though, is the head problem cured now? Watnall didn't do SVA when I built mine, it's only 15 miles from here. I had
to go to Derby but they were good as well.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Seat belt anchorage point was one of my fails too as well as radius edges here and there, its a nice fail when you knows its a just a couple or three
hours work,
I was concerned that when i pulled the foam for the seat it would compromise driving position, it actually made it better and even mrs bob didnt think
sitting on the flor was that bad(theres a joke there but i wont go there)
Good luck on the retest nat, just in time for stoneleigh
