brake flexi's and catching

Good Afternoon, (just!)
I am currently going over last few bits on car ready for next week and I'm a litttle worried about the front flex's. They don't catch the wheel anymore now that they have the right twist in them but they do touch the cycle wing bracket on full lock. Is this likely to be a fail point at sva? Also whilst doing some searching on the subject last night I kept cominig across the subject of covering the pipes with "spial wrap" What is the pupose of this? I am a little confuddled!!

The spiral wrap stops chaffing of the hose and protects it, Perhaps try and reduce the amount of lock you have just for now.

Hi,

Front flexis on production cars often foul the mac strut or inner wheel arch and use rubber do-nut type protectors to prevent chafing of the brake line.

Reference is made throughout the SVA manual to "doing it like major manufacturers" (or something like that) so if there really is no other way of doing it to clear the lines from the wing stays - rubber do-nuts would be the way.

Spiral wrap is intended to achieve the same result and is just a plastic coil which you can wind over flexible lines to protect them - car builders solutions will have it and are very quick on postage - if a little pricey.

I thought the main reason for the spiralwrap is that the braid can/could be considered sharp to the touch and therefore a fail/
I would thing that it would not be sufficient to have this as the sole method of preventing chafing of the pipe and I thought that this was a fail point if it touiched anything, hence the reason so many, myself included, reduce the amount of lock by some means.
I used asuspension bush on the inside of the rack to achive this.

my front flexi's come within a knats winky of touching the wheel on full lock, i have front hoses from an 80's rover fitted, they have a metal coil fitted as standard wich protects the hose, only about 7 quid each and mr sva was happy with them, think there is a picture in my archive that shows them

Mine are rubber flexible pipes and they touch the wing stay so I put a piece of rubber pipe round them where they touch same as manufacturers do.

I tie wrapped my front flexis to the upper wisbone. This looks right, solves all the problems & mr SVA didn't bat an eyelid. Unforyunately I don't have a good picture but here's a bad one

the braided hose is protected by a split piece of rubber (fuel?) hose where it's tiewrapped
