Road Tax

Need to renew the tin top road tax (currently on SORN). I know that if you tax it halfway through the month you get the 6 or 12 months plus the remainder of the current month (so 6 1/2 or 12 1/2 months). If i renew mine on the 2nd Jan for 6 months, will i be taxed until end of july?

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

It will be taxed until the end of June. You need to tax it from the 15th day or later of the current month to get it to run until the end of July, but it will not start until the 1st of February, see here

Be careful - if you tax it tomorrow for 6 months (31st Dec) I believe, because the car is not currently taxed, you will get an end of May tax disc. Wait until 1st or 2nd of Jan and 6 months will take you to end June.
