What companies can get my car finished and SVA'd
Hey up!
Got my car back from Worx with engine installed a couple of months ago, I was well chuffed. Unfortunatly DIY and other stuff has meant it is now in my
garage behind a pile of junk that I have to leap over to get in the garage.
Time aint on my side and I want the car SVA'd before 1) the IVA comes in and 2) A new baby causes our income to drop.
So, what options do I have if I'm willing to pay to get the car finished.
I;d usually ask steve (worx) but he is away still I think and he might not be interested in doing it for me.
I'm after a flat price for finishing it, does that exist?
I don't want a bargain deal, I just need it doing before my desposable income vapourises in a cloud of maternity leave!
Saying that I imagine kit car companies are quiet at the mo with Xmas and the "credit crunch" so I could always try and haggle a little.
I have pretty much everything to finish it, except the odd bit here and there - major bits left to fit are:
Body work
Rear Ali panel
Seats/Harnesses
propshaft
handbrake cable
headlights (wiring done)
bonnet cloth cover
Fit new cardon dash
Front wing stays/wings
Brakes fluid/bleeding
New spring rates calculated, sourced and fitted.
SVA pre work and test
Also rear axle needs a fettle - I fitted a new diff but havn't got round to refitting the halfshafts in properly - a lack of the correct
imperial allen key put paid to that!
anyway - anyone got anyone they can recommend, and also a rough idea on getting all the above fitted/complete?
I was kind of hoping for a price inclusive of any SVA retest fees, as I think it would focus the companies mind on doing it right first time

this is the last pic I have of the car, imagine it with the water pipes in situ and with the front of the roll cage removed, and on wheels

I know RAW Engineering will work on any kit car. Mel probably won't agree to a fixed price but he does have sensible hourly rates unlike many
commercial garages! Time maybe an issue though as they are quite a small concern.

Would suggest one local to yourself.
Mark Fisher is "back in the industry" and has reasonable hourly rates.
Based around Maidstone. U2U me if you want his details.

Im in merseyside, so nothing very local I bet. But good point, don't fancy a 5 hour drive to check on progress vs. hours charged.

You could try Graham at Chester Sportscars. They are 3 mins off the A55 going into Wales so about 25 mins or so from the Mersey tunnel

I was just going to say that. They're at Stafford show this weekend though. Worx is back on Monday I believe although he's probably been
reading every thread for the last 2 weeks.

Try the BEC centre in Stafford. They do a build service. You could also try MNR. They sometimes do this kind of work. They're usually quite
busy though if you want it done now.

The one person I would have said was driven off this site and used to do the builds at MK and that is Charlie (snoopy) he's built some great
cars and knows the SVA inside out

If steve is back Monday I'll offer it to him first, I'm very happy with his work. Then i'll start calling round.
Cheers for the comments

He is back Monday and I'm sure he'll be delighted to give you a hand. He does have a Mev Rocket to build for a company but not sure when
he's starting that.

I do a bit of this sort of thing (not touting for work as I'm too far from you) but I thought I would offer some insight from the
builder's POV
The problem with giving a fixed price is that it can be very difficult for a builder to know how long it's going to take, so he has to guess on
the high side. Also he's going to want to see it first, so do you have a way of taking it the places you are thinking of using? If not, they may
want paying for coming to look- I would because I would be thinking that when the person heard my quote they might change their mind.
My vote would be to contact some people, find out their hourly rate, compare that to their experience with your particular sort of car (more
experience means more speed, therefore a higher rate is acceptable) then go with the people you think are best bearing those factors in mind.
My rate is quite low, but then I've never worked on a BEC so I wouldn't be such good value, if you see what I mean
