SVA on a registered vehicle?
I know someone who has a Cobra-like registered as a Jaguar. He wants to 'legitimise' it by putting it through SVA and getting it
re-registered properly.
Has anyone done this? Is it straightforward, or a can of worms best left unopened?

Is it as simple as stating the Jag is the donor (which it no doubt was) and then scrapping it after you get a fresh v5 after SVA?

Does it use the JAG Chassis ??? if it does then it's had re-body and will not need an SAV, if it has a custom Chassis made then it will.

As simple as stamping a new (unused) chassis number and whatever work needs to be done for the test.
It is possible to legitimise it without an SVA if it can be proved to have been on the road prior to the introduction of SVA.
Zilspeed has done this I think.

Yes indeed I did.
Wrote a verrrryyyy nice letter to the DVLA stating that my car had been on the road for years and I had all sort of tax discs to prove it. They
organised a local inspector to come and check out the car which he did. He then went back to the office, contacted Swansea and asked for all info held
on my car and then phoned me the next day to confirm that the log book would be altered.
Result is that my car is no longer a Vauxhall Viva 2 seater sports, but a Sylva Leader 2 Seater sports.
If his car is described as a 2 seater, or even the right colour on the log book, chances are that they will have records on their files which will
help your case a great deal.
Well worth the effort IMHO. My totally worthless car is now only worth very little
