Passed Norwich

PASSED PASSED PASSED
FIRST TIME FIRST TIME FIRST TIME
The test went well but i felt like i was on trial, broke the ice early with dennis and from then on it was a pleasent few hours with jokes, laughter and genuine interest in cars, the brake test was horrible with loads of numbers, some flashing red and what i thought was terminal imbalance.
sound test was easy and registered at 92db, must have some sort of perforated tube restriction in it, i must have a look and unblock it this weekend.

Speedo test was the last bit and all was going realy well untill at 63 mph the sppedo died. "Oh" says Dennis " thats a shame up till then you had passed the lot"
"We book these tests till 12 so if you can fix it by then i can pass you" No presure then.

Knock off two magnets re try
Failed at 33 mph.
recalibrate
Failed at 63 again.
PANIC
Tester lets us use the lift with his supervision
Earth sender
Rip our under dash protection and start to hard wire the power and earths
Phone Caerbont who said "try other sensor feed wire, thats all he could suggest.
Failed
Isolate guage from all other wiring and unplug a few things to stop any interferance.
Speedo works to about 83mph then jips out, tester says "i only test to 70"
Re Test
Failed on speed
recalibrate
failed
in a panic just add 300 to the calibration as by this time even with a calculator the maths is not working, diff time rolling radius times magnets.
This was getting like countdown, 30 seconds to get a number.
Finally i got close enough to the bottom acceptable limits, i wont drive it on the road like this but it got me a final pass.

You were lucky they let you adjust some of the things at the sva. We went ie myself and steven(snap-off) to get his indy sva'ed and they didnt give us a change to do any ajustment, even when we had nearlly an hour left for the testing time.

Oh and congrats

Well done on the pass!!!
We didn't have Dennis. I think our guy took the hump after I asked him to check the regs on suggesting that my clocks and start button would fail on being out of the 110mm steering radius. I was sure it was more than 110mm, he came back red faced, it was 127mm!
