Nooooooo dont use insulation tape. Best to get 2 or 3 rolls of the proper non adhesive loom tape.

b&&&tards aren't they. I know of someone who had origianl elephant hide seats eaten in his series 1 landie. I myself have had them eat the keys on my ZX spectrum and eating the paper element and chewing up bits of the cover to make a nest in the the air box in my Z1000.

feral cat in the garage is what you need, had one for years in mine, evil thing it was too (called it Harry) looked just like this but bigger, when I tried to keep it out to spray the cars by putting a brick over the hole in the wall it would push the brick out the way!! -

oh and you can't use sticky back tape for the SVA

well you learn something everyday, i was'nt aware that you couldnt use adhesive tape for looms when being SVA'd, why is that?
is it because the adhesive part is deemed as flammable?

don't ask me, I was told that on here

saying that I've used it on several looms and always found it way too rigid unless the loom is taped after the wires have been routed round the car (i.e. very difficult) but if you use the self amalgamating stuff, then you have time to get it into the correct shape and then it sets later sealing the loom from water. The tape tends to go out once the source of the fire is stopped.

Sure others are going to argue with pretty much every point above…

Is everyone sure about using insulating tape for looms??
SVA dont like you using self adhesive stuff as in there oppinion it has the habit of becoming detatched over time and loosing its security. That said i didnt realise you couldnt use insulating tape for looms. I know you cant use it to hold the nut covering type stuff to wishbones etc. i also know you cant use self adhesive cable tie bases (unless they have a screw or rivet etc holding them as well). I know tape is useless for insulating bare connectors, however for a loom it is wrapped in a spiral so holds itself in place. The only problem i have witnessed is where the end of the wrap starts to soften and unwrap itself over time, however if the loom is mechanically secured in place this is stopped from happening.

My loom was mostly held in conduit but there were areas under the dash where i taped parts of the loom up.
