registration order
Morning all
i've gone through the posts I can find regarding registering the car and believe i now know all the documents I need to present.
One thing that isn't clear though is the order of things. I know I need an inspection which you can't get until the forms are submitted.
I don't fancy leaving documents like driving licence/passport etc at DVLA, I'd rather show up present the forms then take them away.
So do you go in with the forms, pay your fees and tax etc then have to wait for an inspection or do you submit the forms then pay for everything after
the inspection?
Any clarification would be most welcome.
Cheers
Nigel

I went to the local office, filled in the forms with their help at the counter, showed my ID and they then booked for the inspection.
Good suggestion from David Jenkins on here was to take a colour copy of your MAC for posterity as they take it from you for registration when you
complete the forms.
Paid my money for inspection and tax on the inspection day. Now just waiting. Although I did contact the local office yesterday to progress on the
pretext that the cover note expires tomorrow and they said it wasn't going to be a problem so they are on the case.
Cheers, Pewe

I called in on the way back from SVA with all the forms. They wern't expecting me but obliged anyway. Top lass Kelly @ Stockton.
They went through it and went outside to inspect the car. I would have got it all there and then bar the insurance. So returned 3 days later with the
insurance and all the docs and walked out 15 mins later with the tax and reg.
Top class, no hassle service. very straight forward.

Sure you know but it seems like no two centers follow the same rules......
If it helps as soon as I had my MAC I went in to the local office armed with as much paperwork as possible and still had to leave it all with them as
it would take a 'few days' to process the paperwork.
We made an appointment for the woman to come round to do the inspection when I dropped the paperwork off.
She arrived on the appointed day, did the inspection, gave me a form to fill out and asked for a cheque. Within a few minutes I had the tax disc and
the paperwork to go get the plates made. She brought all of the paperwork back at the time of the inspection. The registration doc followed in about a
week (with the wrong make and model on it but thats another story)
I know I could have had the inspection before the SVA but as it turned out I don't think I would have save any time anyway.
Maybe the best bet is to get yourself down to the Chester office and talk to them in person. I did and it seemed to work. I had tried to get in touch
by phone before and had no luck.
Manchester was the office I used.
Oh yeah and I got a letter fining me for not sorning the now destroyed and screpped sierra donor as well but thats yet another story.
Don't panic, you'll be tearing up the streets soon enough......
John.
