vin number and engine date

Hi and happy new year to everyone, bit late i know but was out skiing in France for new year.
Right, ive got the original vin number supplied by Fishers from 2003 and the brand new R1 engine from 2003, if i use the vin will i still get a new reg as im going for that, also if i put year of engine manufacture as 2003 will this have an effect too.

Ta in advanced, Joe

Thank's, Joe

You need to put year of manufacture as 2009 and have a receipt for a reconned engine.

VIN doesn't matter it can be made up so doesn't matter that it has the digits 2003 in it. Some DVLA offices like it to be 17 digits long, it depends on the office.
If you have proof that the engine is new that should be fine.
Have you got a reverse gearbox fitted, if not I don't think you will get new plate.

I used the chassis no as supplied by Fishers. Date on the chassis number or engine manufacture date won't matter.

...and having to have a reverse to get a new reg is a myth.

Stuart, I think the story originated from the theory that as the engine and gearbox assy is reconned then that count as 2 recon parts, so you list the reverse box as the "new" gearbox and thats how you get new reg'.

I listed the engine on the form and added a note that the engine had an integral gearbox.

ps, How was the skiing, Joe? Meribel was really good X-mas week.
