Cost Of IVA
i just read that the cost of an IVA is going to be £580!
Is this right?

Sounds about the right ball park.
Doesn't leave much change from your £250 does it!
(Why do you think there are so many people rushing to get an SVA, even if it means a fail!).

yup! thats what my sva tester told me...theyre meant to be 'lebelling out the playing field'...by making single vehicles pay as much as
trucks and buses... :|

thats decided then, going to spend my money on another project, cos the cost of kit cars and building them seems to be the only thing that increases
during a credit crunch.....

If been having the same thoughts but i dont think i could sell mine. I have spent too much time on it. I recon im way past half way. Il just save up
and go through IVA.

Isnt this exactly what the government want?
Price all of us out of the kit car game so we are forced to drive safe cars that comply with their rules...
We are all drones for the government... dont EVER forget that!
What justification have they given for the immense price rise? Its disgusting..
This will just encourage more people to be dishonest.... Which can be said for a lot of things

I think half a days time of an expert is pretty good going, all on their equipment, test centres across the UK.
I bet there are some stealerships which charge not far off that in "labour" to have a scruffy oik do a bodge job on your tin top.
I agree the price hike is a lot, but its been at a pretty low price for some time considering the technical abiltiy and expertese of the guys doing
the hours.

so £580 + retest if needed.
Cost to get it there, call it £75
Whats the registration fee ?
Insurance - Call it £200
Tax - Call it £100 for 6 months on a 2.0
Whats that then £1100 to find all in one go.
Cant see me being able to find that to put it on the road. Part builds are going to be worth bugger all after the date.
I dont think I could aford to keep it just for a couple of track days a year.

I feel your pain but a bit knee jerk, the only difference is the IVA price all the rest you would have to pay for anyway. Yes £580 is a lot more to
find but most of you will spend over £6000 by the time you get to IVA, you wont get half of what you have spent if you give up so its makes good
economic sense to cary on and finish the job.
IVA will not change for a number of years now so you have time to save up for the extra £330

There is an article in the January Complete Kit Carregarding the IVA where they have been working with VOSA. VOSA recons the £580 is the max its going
to be but must be based on the cost of the time taken for the test.
BTW my test took about 3-4 hours in 2002.
