SVA questions, help please

Hi

Any help anyone can give me on these queries would be most helpful.

1. I have a fireblade engine for my MK indy r which is a 94 model. Some people have mentioned to me that there is a year which if an engine pre dates they don't have
to go through the emissions test. Is this correct, if so what year?

2. Does anyone know what the minimum requirements for wing mirrors are? ie size, convex, flat, etc

3. I have also read a post on here regards the digidash II. What is meant by "exempt area" on the dash. Link to the post, http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=103563&page=&contribmessage=none

Sorry if I'm being a bit thick but I'm struggling to find the answers. Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks
Jk

Pre 1995 is the point at which you do not need to fit a CAT.
The exempt area of the dash is the area in which edges of items e.g switches, clock faces do no have to meet the required edge radius. They are "exempt"

As above.

Pre '95 (evidence required) and you don't need to have a cat'. There is still an emmision test but not as strict. Explanation in the SVA manual.

Mirrors have to meet the radius requirements and enable you to see certain areas to the rear. There's a very complicated explanation in the SVA manual.

Exempt area is area of the dash behind the steering plus 127mm of it. Again explained with pictures in the...you've guessed it...SVA manual.

motorcycle mirrors meet the requirement, talking to stuart my tester today about proof of engine age pre (august ?) 95( I got a rather expensive letter from honda) and he would accept the details from the haynes manual as it must have originated at some point from honda

The exact date for change in emissions testing at SVA is 1st August 1995.

The exempt zone is steering wheel rim width plus 127mm.

Cheers

Note to all: I really don't know when to leave well alone. I tried to get clever with the mods, then when they gave me a lifeline to see the error of my ways, I tried to incite more trouble via u2u. So now I'm banned, never to return again. They should have done it years ago!
