Collapsible steering boss
Am I correct in thinking that I can use an aftermarket steering wheel (Mountney) for SVA, provided that it is fitted to a COLLAPSIBLE boss? or will it
still be considered as not 'Type approved' for the Sierra column?

the wheel needs to be padded and the collapsable boss needs to be fitted.
isn't easier to fit sierra wheel just for the test?

Tried fitting my original Sierra wheel but it fouls on the column shrouds as I have adjusted the column length to suit the non-collapsible boss for
my mountney wheel (which is shallower than the boss in the Sierra wheel) It also catches my knees big time (which could prove a major problem as
I'll probably have to drive to the test centre some 40 miles away..
Reckon that fitting a non-collapsible boss would prove to be the easier option provided I can source one!
Dangle, weren't you trying to source a collapsible boss recently? Any joy? I've looked on ebay to no avail.

As I said about a week ago.
The Gillingham centre will not accept aftermarket wheels.
I used a properly padded wheel with a collapsible boss.
It still failed because, as the examiner said.
it is a non type approved wheel on a type approved column.
I know some centres have passed them with aftermarket wheels.
I think I would fit your non standard one but take the Sierra one with you incase you need to change it.
