Could you make a mesh dome to fit over the filter so that they can't contact the filter with their radius tool.

Take it off ?

It could then "fall on" after SVA ?!?!?

Why not just cover the whole thing up for sva, something like a stainless steel dog bowl stuck over the top with double sided sticky tape would do the trick.

Crikey you lot were quick! Great minds and all that Mike

Is there an aquatics place near you that's open on a Sunday. Most do various grades of foam for pond filters. Fit a strip of that around the whole filter and tell the tester that it is K&N pre-filter foam (which is available for off-road racing etc). May be worth a shot if you cant get anything else

Is it just the top edge? Can you not make a large kind of O ring out of some rubber and stick it around the edge?

What is the carb? I could lend you the Pipercross for a pieberg!

I noticed it is a crossflow.

My vote goes for taking the filter off and putting something like a dog bowl or similar glued from the inside.

Cheers

Rich

can't tell from very small photo but does the carb stick out above bonnet?

if not, get down to pouundland where they sell fine anit-spatter mesh for frying pans.

PU that on.

I fitted e-foam to the edges of mine. Its used as a self adhesive draft excluder for windows and doors. If you cant get that, do you have any foam or rubber sheet that can be cut into a narrow strip and stuck on using double sided tape? (get that from a craft supplier or Staples or similar)

I used black multi-core electrical cable outer slit along its length then taker some off one edge to give a 3/4 round beading. Stuck it on with Extreme adhesive from B&Q - expensive but sticks like whats it to a blanket (Evos -stik will do the same). If you nick the inner edges it should curve to quite small radius.
BOL.
