Back to the Future Fisher on ebay!
Just seen
this on the bay... first registered 1955 because that's the date on
an Anglia reg transferred to the car which is tax exempt because the donor was a 1973 Escort!!??
I know we all have our experience and opinion of DVLA, but surely this is complete incompetence? Also, although it would be good not to have to pay
for a tax disc, could you be done for knowing the V5 is incorrect and not getting it updated? Presumably the original builder lied and said that it
used the original Escort chassis and/or the DVLA cocked up? (and even for the Escort to have been accepted as tax exempt they would have had to agree
that it was manufactured before 1 Jan 73 even if first registered in 1973...)
(Car looks quite nice, btw)

Nice car but that's a whole world of trouble waiting to be bought by someone who doesn't know better!!!
Having kit cars incorrectly registered as their donor is one thing but two registration bodges in one car- amazing.
I'd love to see the DVLA trying to sort that one out considering they find registering a "kosher" kit car difficult!!!

Don't shoot!
Hello all, and please allow me to introduce myself:
I've meant to register on this forum for a long time and now I have a real reason for doing so.
I'm the (still) proud owner of the Fury you've seen on Ebay and of which the registration shocked you.
First I need to re-check in my paperwork, the donor Escort was a 1971 rather than 1973, explaining the "historic plate" and tax examption
entitlement. Then the previous owner (the 1st I believe) transfered that 1955 plate, which is now declared as "non transferable" by the
DVLA.
Shortly after I bought the car, I called the DVLA myself because I wanted to make sure I hadn't bought a dodgy car to find it out when taking it
to the MOT station. I understand a kitcar can receive it's donor car's registration, but 1955 seemed a bit old indeed. They confirmed the
legitimity of the V5, I insisted that I understood that the number was transfered but not that the year of 1st registration was also transfered. They
just answered it was all normal.
Comes the time of the 1st MOT, the guy wanted a bit of clarity regarding to what standard he should inspect the car, it being clearly not equiped with
1955 technology. We called the DVLA again and they confirmed the car was originally registered after the donor Escort, and thus should be tested as a
1971 (sorry I wrote 1973 by mistake in the ad) car. I since asked the DVLA to send me a history of the car's registration, they did send it but
it was that of the 1955 Anglia although I would have prefered that of the Escort. There is mention of the transfer to a Fisher Fury, with the
Fury's (the Escort's) number too if I'm correct.
I hope this is more or less clear, I'll read my papers again just to make sure I've got the numbers right (so as to not upsetting anyone)
and I don't mind answering any questions about this obviously unusual situation. I'm not trying to sell my car here (it's already
advertised) but I just want to clarify what seems to have been seen as a con of some sort.
Thanks for reading if you've been that far.
BTW, great forum, I sometimes have a look and it's full of useful stuff. Now I get to see the photos as well!

Thanks for the nice comments, by the way.
Oh, and does anyone know of anyone with one of those registered in France? A bit out of subject but still part of the legal stuff I suppose.
