Under dash projections.

Can anyone tell me how much is checked under the scuttle for sharp edges etc?.I have a battery isolator switch mounted on the passenger side bulkhead and tucked into the top corner of the scuttle, the fuse box is on the front bulhead above the tunnel.I cannot decide if the regs mean that the lower edge of the dash is the cut off point or if everything under the scuttle is checked.

For what it is worth My tester at Yeading wanted the entire under dash area covered in. I explained I thought I had read in the regs that only the area "below the horizontal projection of the lower dashboard edge needed to be checked" and his reply was to the effect that "his discretion on safety overrided any written reg"

I didn't have anything sharp up there just the usual wiring and odd bracket tucked well up but it wasn't the only fail item and a simple hardboard cover was put over the area for the retest. - Alan

My tested wasn't interested in anything above the bottom edge of the scuttle inside, though he did give it a cursory glance.

under dash

yes same as jasper, tester did look under dash , but made no comment, so I think it must come down to the SVA centre its tested at. mine was Beverley.
Its down again to interpretation of SVA regs by individual testers.
