Road tax Avoidance
Hi
im new to this game and just wondered if if is possible to get historic status to avoid road tax.
i have a Q plated car based on a 1971 ford Mexico . The logbook states it was built/registered in 1987 .
Can i get the dvlc to give it a age related plate based on the donor ?
will this give it historic status ( free road tax)
i also have a lcurrent log book from another mexico (1972) and chasis plates
Can i just put the reg number and chasis number on my car and run it as a tax exempt mexico ? or is this pushing tyhe law too far
Thanks

No...
once you have a q plate you are stuck with it, even if you could change the plate the car would still be registered as a 1987.
Putting on your mexico chasis plate and calling it a mexico will get you your collar felt, the old bill aren't as daft as they look.

When you go for a SVA and then register the new V5 will show the date of registration as the current date, and therefore no tax exempt, regardless of
donor age. Good news no MOT for 3 years.
