what immobiliser?
I don't have a steering lock, nor will i be able to have one, so electronic immobiliser seems to be best.
been looking at a Toad transponder type. I think seems to be the best type. not really a fan of the touch key type ones.
ebay has them for about £50 + about £7 postage.
is that about right? anywhere cheaper? I'd like to stick with a good name, thought Toad were right up there with the best of them.
anywhere cheaper? I guess it could be something simple like a small electric plug which makes a circuit when plugged in, but i'd prefer
something a bit more professional

I suppose i'm really set on that particular type

I've got the one from your eBay link I haven't tried it, since the car doesn't run yet.
It's pretty easy to wire up and the transponders make it transparent to use. I didn't want to have to press a button or swipe
something.
Also payed the 49 pounds on ebay.
I can e-mail you the wiring diagram if you're interested?

I brought a CAT 2 transponder for my car. Before you buy make sure you can get the programming codes and wiring diagram. Some large companies dont
release the diagrams and coding details for obvious reasons (security and protecting their dealer network).
From being in the industry in the past I would say that the main thing that makes an alarm \ imobaliser work well and be secure is the fitting
itself. To be CAT2 there are certain attbibutes of the system that need to be in place.
I have an isolation switch (red key type) in my glove box area. Attached to that key ring is my transponder tab. As I plug and turn the isolator
switch in it auto detects the induction loop hidden on the other side of the fibre glass and therefore dont have to do any thing. It auto arms with
time so no need to switch anything, its fully automated. I thought this is as neat as it gets and the nice thing being that even the keen eyed petrol
head wont even notice whats happended and think that the car only needs an isolator switch to start.
I have changed the standard flashing red LED to a ultra bright blue one and placed it in the middle top of my dash. Its so bright it flashes through
the curtains and onto my bedroom ceiling at night when the car cover is off!!
Any info or advice needed when installing then give me a U2U.

awesome, that seems to be about the best price i'd get, as long as it comes with coding info and installation instructions then?
cheers Biz, i'll find that out before ordering. I'm going to get the guy who's making my wiring loom to wire it all in with it. I
think he can also sign the certificate for insurance too. he should be anle to wire it all up no bother.
thanks for the help everyone!
