Ariel Atom - Front Number Plate

Atoms come from the factory with sticky front number plate's on the slanted nosecone.

Is this perfectly legal? I.e. Would you get a similarly designed car through SVA with this?

You won't have a license plate for SVA because you won't get a reg number until you've passed SVA (at least one thing you won't get tested on!).

Number plates are not needed for SVA. However MOT is a different thing. Can't remember offhand but I think number plates have to be vertical . New regulations coming in require the plate to have a B.S. number which sticky fronts will not have = automatic failure!

A lot of atoms have sticky plates, but most of the new ones have a bracket on their front lights for a number plate, which in this photo is not present!

Just as a note

When my car was tested a Standard Approved Number plate would of failed if fitted, on radii.
I guess it's lucky that Reg. No.s are issued post passing.

can't remember the details, but on Pistonheads one of the members had found a supplier of BS registered sticky front plates, so they are out there. Obviously doesn't get around the other issues but from that point alone it's a hurdle that can be overcome.

Number plates come as the backing (white or yellow) which has the required details and BS number. The digits are applied before the clear plastic cover is applied. If you can get hold of them they may possibly be suitable but they are not self adhesive.
