Dial Radius

Hi, I have a set of 6 dials from TPI-Tech that I obtained form the USA but they don't conform to SVA requirements. Are there any bezels on the market that can fitted over the top of these or is there an alternative system that I can use to pass SVA?

They will be mounted in a padded dash and I don't want to sink them into the dash, other than into the padding or put a cover over the top of them.

The other option I have is to mount them within the exempt area, but if I do this, for the SVA I will only be able to fit three dials, the speedo, fuel and water temp, (the rev. counter, oil and volt meters I will fit after SVA) and they will be partly obscured by the steering wheel so will that be a problem?

Regards Steve

Hi Steve, not too many ideas forthcoming so if I may, I'll just add my thoughts.

I had the same problem because I am using old type VDO instruments with sharp edges to the bezels. I cut a surround from 6mm MDF and covered it with vinyl. This was then fitted using velcro so that it can be easily removed without any damage to the dash.

I'll try to attach a photograph.

I just wondered if you could do the same thing.
