Exempt Area

Have I got it right ?

If I have a steering wheel of say 15cm radius the exempt area where I can put pointy things on the dashboard is a circle 15 + 12.7 cm radius centred on the wheel hub centre ?

Or put it another way 127mm from the outside of the steering wheel inwards to the centre of wheel.

Well that's confused me

That ^^^ reads as if the exempt area is less than the area behind the wheel ??

Think I'll fit a four foot steering wheel just to be on the safe side
