Did you make your chassis? if you did like me then I have made my 17 digit number up, if you bought your chassis then I would have thought the
manufacturer would be able to supply you with one.
Just my two peneth, I reckon leaving it blank would be a bad idea.

Hi Dan,
Ipswich DVLA will want to give you one of their VIN numbers as they are so crap they don't understand people making their own ones up. They
wouldn't accept the number I had supplied by MNR already stamped on the chassis and still wanted to issue one of their's.
If you want your own chassis number that means something to you and your car I suggest you go to Chelmsford as I did and you will have no problem. If
you are not bothered then get Ipswich DVLA to issue you one of their's but you will have to take your car to a garage and have them stamp the
number into the chassis and sign the piece of paper to give back to the nerds at DVLA.
Ipswich DVLA do not know what they are going on about so I suggest you go elsewhere anyway. They delayed the registration of my car by nearly a month
due to their sheer incompetence
Cheers
Stu.

Ok thanks
Ill just make it up and sva it with it and see what happens. Once its on the mac they cant change it.
What about this one. I rang the ipswich dvla up and the woman didnt appear to know what an sva or mac cert was.

Oh yes they can! That's exactly what they wanted me to do. I already had MAC cert with the chassis number on it and they STILL wanted to issue
me one of their's which would have meant my car would have had a chassis number recorded with VOSA that is on the MAC and their one which would
have gone on the V5 meaning my car would have had 2 chassis numbers. How mad is that?

Almost as mad a two , yes, two cars with the same chassis number . Both cars belong the members of the forum.
