Good afternoon all
Can someone please offer me some advice on my brakes? In the IVA manual section ref no. 09E RS15: The service brake performance must be a minimum of
60%?
I had a problem where the discs were too small for the calipers and pads. This meant there was an amount of the pad not touching the disc. This has
now been rectified with the correct 260mm discs but when I test the braking efficiency on an MOT brake tester the highest reading I can achieve is
about 56%.
I have changed the Pads, Discs, Master Cylinder, all Rubber hoses for Braded Steel hoses, all copper lines are new, rear Wheel Cylinders and shoes
have been replaced. I have also junked the original brake bias valve and replaced it for an obp unit but still no joy has anyone had this problem or
can anyone suggest anything else to try other then a rear disc conversion as suggested by the MOT station?
score the drums and pads with heavy grade alluminium oxide paper they may be too smooth
I had to increase the leverage on the handbrake by relocating the cable nipple closer to the pivot. PITA but it worked.
what master cylinder are you using?,do the brakes feel hard but just dont slow you down quick enough?
then you need a smaller diameter master cylinder like the fiat 124 jobbie from "brakes international"
As above smaller master cylinder bore to reduce pedal pressure or even "Typhoon Tracy" would complain about how hard he had to push the
pedal.
