Sierra rear caliper alternatives
GavMax - 7/9/11 at 06:20 AM

Hi

I am running sierra rear uprights and 13" wheels (split rims).

I know that Sierra rear calipers will just about squeeze in but would prefer a more traditional caliper type that doesn't travel so there' s no risk of jamming on rails.

Does anyone know what disc/caliper combination mightfit within a 13" wheel please.

I don't need a handbrake (it's a sprint car)

Many thanks
Gavin

I'd have a look at the Willwood powerlite caliper, think they get inside a 13inch rim.

If anything traditional opposed piston callipers are just as likely to give problems with sticking pads or seized pistons.

I'm running bendix rear calipers from 205/106 gti with 240mm escort discs (high offset version) on my hillclimb locost. The piston size is much better suited than the sierra one. I had some brackets waterjet cut to suit.

Thanks for your help so far

Phelpsa - do you have any photos of your set up per chance?
