Just wondered if the golf calipers are worth using.
I believe they are lighter but looking through various sites it seems as though they may need special (Cosworth?) discs.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Any of the VW/Audi/Skoda/SEAT rears on non vented discs will do the job. A lot of varying piston diameters to suit what You've got up the front
to get the system balanced.
Depending on your upright setup, you may need to alter the actuation mechanism for the handbrake, but same applies the Sierra.
You also may need mount adaptors depending on the uprights. I can't give specifics, as all of the VW group calipers I've fitted have been to
custom bespoke uprights.
Get the hose fittings from RD, and you have to ask for them, as they're not listed in the paper or online catalogues.
VW group are lighter.

I have golf rear brakes on mine... with cosworth solid discs ~270mm. I got them for about £40 for both discs.
You will not fit them under anything smaller than 15inch wheels tho.
If you wanted to pop over sometime and have a look your welcome. Otherwise have a chat with Rally Design as that where i got all my bits including the
discs(cheaper than anywhere else)

Not true.
I've fitted them to at least three cars with 13" wheels, on custom uprights, no probs.
They have to be fitted with the particular wheel in mind, as not all 13" wheels are the same cross section.

With 270mm discs?
No, I use sensibly sized discs.
Nothing over 250mm needed. I have used Fiesta/Escort fronts on the back, and also Peugeot. Nothing bigger than the Cortina needed on the front. Far
too many of these cars are 'overbraked', and as such, can be accidents waiting to happen. I've encountered one or two.
The Fiestas need the drive hub to be skimmed a little to fit nice and tight inside the bell section.
