Im after a pinion oil seal for a sierra LSD.
I drive past a ford dealer every day, can someone help out with a part number (to save the blank faces at the spares desk).
Or is there a cheaper source, I apreciate its just an oil seal, Im not after a complete seal kit just the pinion seal.
knowing what we pay for oil seals through work I feel a bit reluctant paying a tenner on ebay!
I've bought several complete sets, 1 off Ebay, 1 from the local Ford dealer (their parts system is pretty good so don't worry about numbers and set from Burton Power. The main dealer was not the most expensive either!
many thanks, what did ford roughly charge
If you actually know what oil seal you need then "Simply Bearings" is the place to go, but you do need either the part No. or the inner, outer and thickness sizes. HTH Ray
It may not be the seal. I had a leakage from what I though was the pinion seal and it turned out to be oil tracking up the between the inside of the rear prop flange/surface of the pinion shaft and out past the nut. Responed to removal of nut and flange and replacing with goo in the gap.
