Hi, i know alot of people including myself run 15 inch wheels. Was wondering what the pros and cons of running 13 inch wheels are ?
There must be someone on here who has gone from 15's to 13's or the other way and has experience of both sizes.

13"s for sure. id doubt anyone who has run them will say otherwise! the difference in ride is astonishing, and a marked improvement in handling as long as your not over or under tired.
185/60/13 front 205/60/13 rear would be a good start

I've just bought my first kit car from owning track Tin Tops and it has 15" wheels I'll move to 13" over the winter cos 15" it just train tracks everywhere and doesn't feel as nibble as it should!

The tyres available work so much better in 13" size.

The reduction in unsprung weight is quite significant as well.

My Locost came to me with 15" wheels and I moved to 13s fairly soon after that.
Handling is so much more progressive.

You can get bigger brakes inside a 15” wheel. You need to decide wheel size before all the suspension and steering geometry is worked out before build. If the car is already built stick to the size of wheel that was factored into all the calculations (front) especially. On live axle rear you could swap wheel size (for gearing) as you should be able to adjust ride height back to original spec,

195/50/15 and 205/60/13 are almost identical rolling radius. stick 13"s on for sure.

Good point Dan, I must have had too many Exports, I belive there's more tyre choice on 13" also.

the larger side wall on the tyre gives a much better ride!
