tyre change ?
steve m - 7/11/12 at 09:48 PM

I am currently running 205/55/13 on all corners on my very light locost 7, and thinking about going smaller,
to somthing like 185/70/13

if i was to.. what type of handling /performance changes, could i expect ?

would i have any other problems ?

Erm .. expect Qucker steering, better ride and Much better stiction onto the road.
You won't be disappointed :-)
Fat lo profile tires have Looong proven to be far worse at everything (except perceved attraction to Wimmin) on Sevens.

steve. the 215/50/13 kumho v700s i have are one of the very best rear (k21 soft) tyres for a 7 type car. id stick with the 205 rears and drop to 175 or 185 fronts

That swap would give you 6% bigger diameter so you'd need more clearance for the wings ad to adjust your speedo.

185/60/13 would be virtually the same diameter so no other mods required. I'd expect lighter steering and a better ride.

Less aquaplaning, easier to drift the car, better ride, better self-centering. Also generally a tyre at the narrower end of the fitments range for a given wheel rim width will give better handing especially better (quicker) steering response.
However I would consider 185/60r13 if you can find that size decent rubber at a fair price. depending on you rim width you might also consider 175/60R13 as I know Yokohama do the the A539 in this size.

I got yokohama A021's - 185.70.13 soft n sticky..
Nice ride - predictable - fun round islands - respectable traction 0-60..
I've realised my lower back is at risk from speed bumps/pot holes..
I try to sit correctly & not slouch - part of the 7's suspension is in the sidewalls.

Usual warnings apply - be very cautious on cold damp roads..
70+ in the rain seems stable .. no tram lining ..

I got 1 degree poitive camber almost zero toe - tyres are wearing flat and even

I quite like them..

Yokohama 185/70x13 A021R Race Rally Tyre

This tyre is a ideal all weather rally/race tyre. It provides excellent grip on wet slippery tracks as they are a soft compond. These are also E marked and road legal. Also these are a control tyre for Brisca and ORC formula's
