Hi can anyone help, I have built chassis and just got myself 1600 sierra as donor, unfortunately engnie is knackered, any good , cheap recomendations for engine, also is ot worth using the rack , front hubs , and complete rear suspension with dion axle or is it better to try and source capri/escort back axle and use cortina front suspension as in book, Cheers

If the engine is non repairable, then another pinto is the easy option. Alternatively there are quite a number of engines that can be fitted to a type 9 gearbox with the correct bellhousing.

what chassis have you built? this will ultimately sway what running gear you use.

as mr barclay says, pinto is nice and easy. id look about for a 2 litre injection pinto, unless your chassis wont fit it height wise.

joelp, choice of bodywork affects the possible engine height, not just the chassis

Ned.

ps you don't say where you are! If it helps I know where there are nissan bluebird trailing arms and a mk1 escort axle in scrappies in surrey/sussex

you know what i mean ned... people with tall engines might add an inch or two to the chassis to make it fit a normal bonnet

normal? a locost? you'll be saying you can build one for £250 next
