Sierra LSD with or without ABS?
Dave Bailey - 23/4/05 at 09:28 PM

Anyone know what the difference is between a LSD that came off a 4*4 sierra with ABS and one that doesn't have ABS?

I am just reconditioning mine and the axles that go through the bearing carriers have a slight knurled rim and I though this may be for the sensor pick up although they don't look deep enough to me. I hope it is just a finish and have no function.

thanks

abs cars have sensors at the hub end of the rear drive shafts, these detect the ridges on the shafts. Not sure if these are the ridges you are refering to, but thats where they are the LSD would be the same.

They are what Joel describes. Don't know about the Velocity rear uprights, but they need removing to fit on the MK uprights. Might be worth just checking with Luego to be on the safe side

Sounds as if you are talking about the ABS ridges, they are only about 1mm deep.

Do you know if this setup can still be used? Would you recognise them if I took a quick snap?

Thanks

Yes we would, most of us have filed, turned, ground or emeryed them off!

They do look about 1mm deep. I'll post a picture tomorrow.

Thanks everyone!

I am pretty sure that the picture is of an ABS rear disk hub but has anyone fitted these to a Velocity XT without removing the sensor pickup ring on a Lathe or something.
