Am thinking of using sierra uprights for my race car build(cos they're easier to get and i think i might need a few!)
can somebody post me a pic or two of them fitted to the chassis(with STM wishbones if Poss)
cheers
Ray
sorry no pics but if i could stear you away from using sierra uprights i would because there a tad on the heavy side.
I know, ive used them but its one of the winter upgrades i have in mind to get rid of them.
You're top bone will need shortening / modifying as well as the offset is greater than that of the Cortina upright.

Ref what Jon was saying about wieght.Speak to Marc at MNR about the light weight replacments that his firm do.
on point getting lightweight sierra uprights, apparantly the geometry is crappy so if spending dough you may as well get the cortina copies (or
better?) and modify the bones to match
gotta agree with joel if the car is to be used on trackdays / racing unfortunately the sierra uprights need to go in the bin, and the cortina /
raceleda ones fitted
if you dont want to pay the full price for the raceleda stuff just use the cortina upright with the raceleda calipers, discs, alloy hubs
best regards
marc
forgot to add the sierra alloy upright is a corrected version so it is better but the cortina is the best option

Why is the geometry crap then gentlemen?
Are we talking scrub radius and kpi?
Please explain!
Geoff
as far as i know, most cars that use strut suspension have far too much KPI.
no difference on the straight, but big camber change when you steer
either way
or maybe thats bollox, but thats how i see it
The top ball joint of the Sierra upright will be much further inboard than the Cortina one (isn't this KPI?).

Cheers, I thought that was the case but just wanted to check - Just have to find some now.

I got my cortina uprights from a banger driver who raced a Mk3 and didnt have too much frontal damage. Paid £40 for the pair straight off the car. (He
usually sells them to Tiger for £50 a pair...!). They arent cheap, but worth routing out if you can find them.
If all else fails, Tiger Racing sell them for about £75 a pair I think.
