Pink stuff?
shades - 1/6/05 at 08:29 PM

Some how I have nipped one of the gaiters on my steering rack and pink stuff is coming out.

Plan is to remove wash an superglue the hole and re fit. Trouble is what is the pink stuff? is it possible to use regular LM grease?

If you have power steering, it sounds like you have a leak from seals within the rack. The pink stuff could be the power steering fluid. Are you down on level in the reservoir??

I once had a leak like that on a cavalier and the gaiters slowly blew up like baloons.

No its just a rack from a I belive a mark II escort supplied by tiger as part of my kit. Wondered if it is some sort of petrolium based lubricant?

The pink stuff could just be coloured grease. When I used to work for Timken, the bearing manufacturer, we put red grease in some bearings. I think it was partly because it showed more easily if the greasing machine missed some.

I agree, sounds like coloured grease. I have a tin of Silkolene RG2 I use on my mountain bike suspension pivots etc.

red coloured, waterproof and sticks to everything !

It's just common rack blood.
