
hello all. Anyone know how to completely dismantle a type 9? reassembly isnt an issue
ive undone all the external bolts, but cant split the main
parts. Is it a case of brute force or have i missed something?!

knock out the lay shaft,the lay gear should drop to bottom of box,knock out 1st motion shaft and the main shaft comes out through the hole in the
top

is the lay shaft the bit that does the shifting? and which is the first motion shaft?! damn i feel dumb...
some research indicates that the lay shaft is the same as the input shaft. right or wrong?!

lay shaft is near bottom of the box,lay gear goes round it (its about 3/4" dia
1st motion is the input shaft,clutch goes on that.
forgot about selectors,normally bolted on to selector shafts,they have "interlocks" and can be difficult to get out,sometimes you have to
turn sel shafts to get them out

i did it!!!
one thing i learned, make sure its in neutral!!!
hammered out the little pin that holds the funny wedge onto the selector shaft, then it was all plain sailing! god knows how id put it all together
again if i had to...
there were bearings and shards of metal everywhere!

i never actually got the gears out, stopped when the casings came apart and the schmia fell out. maybe next time!
