Sierra master cylinder

Anyone have a pic of the bit that connects the brake pedal to the master cylinder so I can see what it looks like then I can make one up? I presume it's a kind of pushrod affair. Alternatively does anyone have a spare one kicking about?
Cheers

my experience of this wasnt fun. I spent ages trying to get it out of the servo, eventually cut it out - and then the two halves seemed to pop out easily! I was quite annoyed!

Jon, you have u2u re the rod.

Jon, sounds like the m/cyl' you have came off a servo assisted unit. The servo has a long spike/pushrod that engages with the m/cyl' and this operates the pistons.

Main issue with making a replacement is ensuring that the pushrod (that you make) never becomes disengaged i.e when you take your foot off the pedal after a long hard stop.

The pedal will return (especially if you fit a pedal return spring) but the m/cyl' pistons may not recover so quickly. Then the pushrod MAY become disengaged and you'll have no brakes next time you go for the pedal.

Jon,

I designed one myself for use with my MK floor mounted pedals and Sierra master cylinder.

I then found out from people on LCB that Merlin Motorsport sell the same thing.

Look in Products / Brake Parts / Brake Accessories then about half way down the page.

I've used one and it works very well - it's not expensive either

I have used the sierra master cylinder in my MK.

are you using the servo?

the MK requires the master cylinder to be removed from the Servo and bolted to the fire wall.

I bought a Y shaped bracket from car building solutions (I think but it is not shown on their web site, they call is a clevis and pin).

the Bottom of the Y is threaded for threaded 8mm rod which you cut to the required length and then rounded on the master cylinder end. the arms of the Y have a pin through them which passes through the pedal and acts as a pivot. the pin is held in place by cleave pins or R pins.

i think this would work with either top or bottom pivot pedals.

if you cant find one i think i may have one spare.

hope this idea helps
