Brake travel?
Dale - 20/7/05 at 11:47 AM

I am in the process of setting up my top mount pedals (mgb pedals on my own brakets). I have around 20 -25 mm of travel at the point where the pin to go into the master cylinder goes. Is this enough movement ( I can get around another 5 mm or so but it starts to put the pedal travel farther than I would like. I have a couple of different types of master cylinders and they all have about 40 mm of piston travel.
Is this the normal amount?
Thanks
Dale

You should really try to get the full mastercylinder stroke from the pedal set-up.

If you have brake fade at some point you will WANT to be able to push further and still get some more braking effect.

I will have to play with it I guess as I am using the ratio (around 6.5 to 1) that the car came with I just dont know how much pedal travel the mgb had to start with. I would prefer to keep the brake pedal movement to 6 inches or less.
