I am about to fit the rear hubs (disc set up) on my Indy and in the bearing kit theres 2 big nuts (ooh er!) Do i need washers for these nuts or can
they go straight on to the hub assembly? There were no washers in the kit.
Cheers in advance
I seem to remember mine not having any washer, remember one is left hand thread. Easiest way to remember is they should always tighten towards the
front of the car.
HTH,
Rich.
anyone know a shop that'd sell the socket big enough for these?
(i think the fronts are the same size despite having a larger internal thread.)
halfrauds didnt have any big enough, and most online places want silly minimum postage..
All the Sierras I've seen have had washers - don't know whether they're strictly necessary or not.
Mark
Rog,
I've got one you can borrow. I'm in Huddersfield-West Yorkshire.

David

The hub nut is 41mm I believe so you will need ideally a 3/4" drive socket. It may be possible to get a large ring spanner on it with a length of scaffold bar, off the top of my head it needs to be around 180-200 lbf.ft.in.
You're right it is a 41mm socket which i have and a torque wrench that goes way over 200lb.ft.in ( i think
)
I'm pretty sure that there are some thick washers that are required for keeping the hubs retained under the new nuts.
I will have a look when I get home but don't go fitting the nuts without checking at least with the Haynes Manual first.
Cheers
Mark
Note to self...buy a haynes manual!!
If you could let me know that would be great, thanks
Ive just recently stripped a sierra and im 99% positive that their was a big, maybe 3mm thick washer in their
ooh!
Anyone got 2 spare?? I'll buy them!
