Hi, I'm kinda new here, been browsing the forum for some time trying to learn about building cars. My plan is to build a mid-engined roadster or targa car someday. My main inspiration for the styling is the K1 Attack, I just love the look of that car. I've been visiting kb's site for quite some time, I've read the complete diary from the beginning to today and also passed through all of the diary for the La Bala and the dp1.

Since I'm in Canada, we don't have any Sierra to use as donors so I'm currently looking for an alternative for uprights/hubs, so basically I'm looking for cars which have double wishbone suspensions and compact uprights, not huge ones like most Hondas. So far the only ones I've found/heard of are the S2K and the Miata. The S2K parts would probably be too expensive/hard to find and the Miata I've only seen some pictures of the upright in some discussion on this site. Anybody has some pictures of the Miata uprights?

Also I would rather not use uprights from a MacPhearson(sp?) suspension if I don't need to, I prefer to use a stock part has is for the upright, though I might change my mind if I don't find anything suitable.

Any suggestions for a suitable donor for those part would be appreciated, also if you have some pictures of some uprights you guys tried I would like that also.

The Sierra was available in North America, but was named the Mercury Merkur (or something like that). Should be some still running or in junkyards.

BobC modeled up the rear upright in SW04. I can send it to you if you'd like. I just bolted my front spindles for hopefully the last time . Maybe you can talk someone else into measuring it for you. Actually, BobC has the mounting dimensions on his website!

'tis true I have made solidworks models of most of my suspension bits & some are on my website. These tend to be 'functional' models rather than photographically accurate, holes & flanges in the right places done so I could check the suspension articulation. If anyone wants any they're welcome, just email me. The website tends to have "edrawings" on - you can use a free browser to look at these.
I also did a lot of work modifying a solidworks model of the locost chassis to stick my IRS on, only to find it was based on a +4 chassis. DOH!
