Is this disc the right way round? The left of the pic is the front of the car
[img][/img]
if the people on the other thread are correct, then yours are wrong
are your pads wearing out fast?!
Not driven it yet!! LOL
Wrong way round i am afraid.
The accepted direction for the grooves is the other way around. The grooves will cut your pads away quickly if you leave them that way round. Though
the brakes will still work!
i wouldnt say wrong, but that way they will wair out fast and maybe lock up quite a lot.
just to be pedantic, your disc is the right way round, but your discs are the wrong way round
just try putting that disc on that side but back to front...
Right way round Andy!!
i think i need to eat my words
check this

Oh blimey.... Ok Mr Hellfire...why are you saying it's the right way round? Is it cos you get better braking??
Seriously i need to know!!
So according to http://www.apracing.com/car/brakedisc/face.htm mine's right???????
Ours are stamped N/S Front and O/S Front.
As are the rears (obviously Rear N/S and Rear O/S)
Thats quite interesting. If you also think of the grooves as throwing dirt/water etc toward the outside of the disc then they should be backward
facing....
And I have been told by many people over the past few years that the grooves should be backward facing for the reasons above (water/crap dispersion
and cutting the pads)
I cant argue with the brakes suppliers though can i? LOL
who cares brake pads dont cost much
depends what compound your using! the tarmac spec pads we use on the evo last one rally and are over 100quid for the front set

thats hardly locost
Unless the manufacturer stamped ours up wrongly.
OFFSIDE (DRIVERS SIDE) FRONT
(Front of Car on the right of picture)
Fitted in the direction instructed by the EBC notes.
from this thread, i will conclude that it doesnt matter either way.
ebc groovies are marked left and right and come with a picture in the fitting notes showing the grooves must be going / toward pads not .
i like to call it the "krull" effect
but then, i am battered.
night night
The direction of the disc will bepend on how the grooves have been designed.
usually grooves are there to deglaze the pad and as such go the 'cutting' way although some are desgned for looks IMO and as such go with
the grooves sweeping backwards.
My Tar-rox ones go the same way as hellfires and I will be fitting the rear ones the same purely for looks
Mr D
looking at the disc closelly you can see that the grooves do not go all the way to the edge, so their primery function must be de-glazing IMO.
I actually ran my tarrox brakes both ways round as I didn't beleive they went that way..... and I never noticed any difference.
the pic of the ebc disc is for the curved grooves so acording to the ap web site thats correct.
Its the straight grooves that seem to go against common sense
So mine are ok then...YAY!
appear to be yes!
bet u thought it would be a simple yes no post!

believe me nothing and i mean nothing is simple in Donuts garage

I'd go with the website advice.
http://www.apracing.com/car/brakedisc/face.htm
For what it is worth, either way round will make no difference to the wear rate of the pads!
What would make a difference is the sharpness of the leading edge of the groove.
