A ladder frame challenge......

Ok here's a good one for you....... I've built a couple of race winning 750MC Locosts so know my way round a live axle spaceframe ....BUT in a moment of weakness was pursuaded to buy a locust - yes the one made from wood... in my defense it was VERY cheap and the guy who originaly made it obviously knew what he was doing as, for what it is, it's very well built and has every receipt MOT etc and a 1700 xflow with some tasty bits (again with all receipts). The only real problem is that it isn't properly registered as a Locust and was built well before SVA regs were even thought of.
ANYWAY my question to you is what would you do with it? (setting fire to it wouldn't help as it isn't currently insured) it has a ladder frame chassis with MK3 cortina wishbones/dampers/springs (!!!) etc at the front and a cortina live axle at the back - as it's a ladder frame there is the oportunity to mount the front wishbones wherever you choose to fabricate mounting points - same at the back really
My initial idea is to sort out the front end - remove and EBAY all the heavy unSVAable bits (eg windscreen) , get it SVA'd and then have a bit of a laugh on the Sprint/Hillclimb circuit - Good idea or bad? and what would you suggest to get it to actualy go round corners??

Do you have a V5 with the name that it is registered as. Back when Noah was a lad I built a couple of specials, and they were both registered as per the donnor vehicles, (Ford and Triumph), with a revised chassis number. So if you have something like this you can just get it MOT'd and it's a runner.

Contact TotalKitCar.com ... if it has a past MOT in it's current form then they may be able to help get it registered correctly without SVA.

This is on heresay, mind.....but anything is worth a try.

You may need the screen for the hill climbs depending on the class you run in.

I'd second the question over whether you need to worry about SVA.

If it is registered, and the V5 was sorted when it was built, then, although it may be a bit "dodgy" by current standards, it's probably best just to leave well alone on that front!

Top suggestion about totalkitcar.com - I had looked at the site in the past but never delved into the SVA section, low and behold there is a very useful page on incorrectly registered kits. As I have a huge file of documentation (including several MOTs if I remember correctly) it could be promising.

Anybody want to buy a Locust?
